DayZ loot map 2026 — where to find NVGs, SVD, and the best military tents

Published 2026-11-04 · 11 min read
TL;DR

Tisy, NWAF and helicrashes are S-tier endgame. Vybor, Pavlovo, Myshkino, Krasnostav and the quiet Bashnya construction site are A-tier and far less contested. The three nerfs that matter in 1.29: fewer NVGs at Tisy, less 5.45 ammo, helicrashes despawn 25 min from first-touch.

Most DayZ loot guides on Google are from 2019. They tell you Stary Sobor is the "main military" location and send you into the woods to look for a camp that hasn't spawned there in four years. This is the loot map for Chernarus in late 2026, updated for 1.29 spawn tables, focused on the gear that actually decides a fight: NVGs, SVD and SV-98 sniper rifles, VSS Vintorez, high-tier plate carriers, 30-round mags, and the military tents that let you set up a working base.

Every location below is tagged with its tier, the gear you can realistically expect to find, and an honest note on how contested it is. "Contested" matters more than loot quality — a Tier S base is useless to you if six premades check it every hour.

Tier S — the three that decide the server

S

Tisy Military Base

Northwest corner of the map, past Severograd. This is where NVGs, SVDs, VSS Vintorez, helicopter parts, and military tents spawn with meaningful probability. On a fresh server restart Tisy is a graveyard for the first group that rushes it; by hour three the loot is cleared and the fighting moves to helicrashes.

Spawns
NVG (rare), SVD, VSS, SV-98, M4-A1 w/ mags, KA-101, plate carriers, assault helmets, military tents, tripwires.
Contested
Extreme on 60+ pop. Low on sub-30 pop. Worth the trip if population is on the way up but hasn't peaked.
Approach
Never from the road. Come in from the northeast treeline above the control tower.
S

Northwest Airfield (NWAF)

The old classic. Still Tier S, but the loot distribution favors rifles over utilities — expect to leave with a full weapon and ammo loadout, but not necessarily an NVG. The hangars at the north end, the ATC tower, and the eastern barracks row are the three hotspots. Southern hangars and the prison block are picked clean within the first hour on any active server.

Spawns
KA-101, M4-A1, SVD (rare), KA-M, plate carriers, 30-round mags, M68 and ACOG optics, PSO scopes.
Contested
Always. NWAF is the center of the map in player psychology.
Approach
Southwest treeline gives cover all the way to the hangars. Never cross the runway in the open.
S

Dynamic helicrashes

Four helicrashes spawn at any given time on a populated Chernarus server, in one of 150+ pre-defined locations biased toward the northwest half of the map. Each crash despawns in roughly 25 minutes if nobody's near it and contains Tier S weapons, military armor, rare optics, and sometimes an NVG. You find crashes by listening for the siren-like audio cue when you're within about 900 m, or by reading community crash trackers.

Spawns
Random — sometimes NVG, sometimes just a Mosin. High-roll: VSS + 9×39 ammo + plate carrier. Low-roll: nothing worth dying for.
Contested
Totally dependent on who else heard the audio cue.

Contested matters more than loot quality. A Tier S base is useless to you if six premades check it every hour. A Tier A base nobody visits gives you 80% of the same loadout, in peace.

Scope reconnaissance at 200m. The hardest part of a helicrash run isn't getting there — it's knowing whether someone else already did.

Tier A — the realistic objectives

A

Vybor Military Base

Central-west map, just south of NWAF. Smaller footprint than Tisy, less contested than NWAF. In 1.29 the loot table was shifted upward — tents, prison, and barracks now reliably produce assault rifles and plate carriers. Not NVGs. Not SVDs. But a complete mid-game loadout in one visit is realistic.

Spawns
KA-101, M4-A1, KA-M, assault vests, military shirts, PSO-1 scopes, ammo boxes.
Contested
Medium. Less than NWAF, more than the smaller Tier A spots.
A

Pavlovo Military Base

Southwest coast, inland from Zelenogorsk. The underrated base because everyone rushes NWAF. On low-pop servers Pavlovo is often untouched, and the barracks reliably spit out a rifle + plate carrier.

Spawns
KA-74, KA-101 (uncommon), M4-A1 (uncommon), SVD (very rare), plate carriers, backpacks.
Contested
Low to medium.
A

Myshkino Military Tents

West of NWAF, across the field. Three or four big military tents here with a mix of military clothing, ammo, and sometimes a rifle. The reason to come is specifically for the tents themselves if you're planning to set up a base — they're one of the few reliable tent spawns outside Tisy.

Spawns
Military tents (reliable), military clothing, ammo boxes, occasional rifle.
Contested
Low. Most players skip Myshkino for NWAF next door.
A

Krasnostav Airfield

Far northeast of the map. A smaller airfield with a control tower and a short hangar row. 1.29 did not meaningfully change Krasnostav's loot but did nerf the probability of finding a military helmet here. Still worth visiting if you're coming from the northeast spawn coast and don't want to run across the whole map to NWAF.

Spawns
KA-M, KA-74, pistols, assault vests, PSO-1 scopes (rare).
Contested
Low.
A

Bashnya construction site

Hidden gem. Northwest, south of Severograd. The red-and-white construction crane and the surrounding partially-built buildings act as an unofficial military spawn because of the 1.26 loot pass that put ammo and rifles here. Most players still don't know to check it.

Spawns
KA-M (common), KA-101 (occasional), ammo stacks, military clothing, construction tools.
Contested
Very low. Plenty of players run past it on the main road without stopping.

Tier B — the "fill a loadout" spots

Stary Sobor, Novy Sobor, and Zelenogorsk all have small military clusters — a barracks, a couple of military tents, maybe a prison building — that produce decent mid-game gear. None of these are worth a dedicated trip from spawn, but if your route passes through, swing in and clear the barracks. You'll leave with ammo, a vest, and maybe a rifle.

Berezino's hospital is a reliable medical loot source. Novodmitrovsk and Severograd police stations reliably produce pistols, SMGs, and sometimes a shotgun. The firestations in Elektro and Berezino have a dedicated firefighter axe and crowbars — which sounds minor but a crowbar is the only quiet melee that one-shots a zombie through a door.

Tier C — the coast

Everything south of the Berezino–Chernogorsk line is Tier C. You'll find civilian clothing, pistols, shotguns, backpacks, and food. The one exception is the Berezino and Chernogorsk hospitals, which reliably produce epinephrine, saline bags, and antibiotics — the three medical items that decide whether you survive your first night.

The coastal shipwrecks (Rify and the smaller southeast wrecks) produce civilian industrial loot, flashlights, backpacks, and canned food. Worth 10 minutes at most on your way inland.

What's changed in 1.29

Four changes that matter.

  • Military tents at Myshkino — spawn weight raised, now a real alternative to Tisy camping.
  • NVG probability at Tisy — nerfed. Don't plan a run on "we'll find NVGs at Tisy." They're there, just rarer.
  • 5.45×39 ammo — spawns less frequently. 5.56 and 7.62×39 got the slots instead.
  • Helicrash despawn window — 25 min from server-side first-touch, not last-touch. Camping doesn't work anymore.

The honest version

You can read every loot guide on the internet and still spend an hour running Tisy on a server where somebody got there first. Loot maps tell you where gear tends to spawn. They don't tell you who's already been there. The two sources of information that actually win DayZ — knowing whose footsteps you're following and knowing whether a building has been looted recently — aren't on any map.

That's the gap most players close with experience. You can also close it with information: a tool that sees what's on the ground and who's nearby, and tells you before you spend 20 minutes running to an empty hangar.
